"After topping Beatport charts for a minute, Ben Rau is officially 'The Player'" ~ Mixmag Asia

Dancing all night and experiencing a feeling of community and togetherness is something countless generations can relate to. Ben Rau originally fell in love with house and techno in his late teens losing himself in the music and exploring his deep-seated passion for electronic music through self-expression – namely, raving. 

Ben spent many years on dance floors back home in Germany and in the UK. As time went on he became more involved behind the scenes, progressing from the dance floor to the decks and into the studio. 

Having a solid grounding in club culture from such a grassroots level means Ben’s connection with the dance floor runs deep, likewise his studio endeavours are aimed squarely at those who dedicate their time to dancing the night away.

A Berliner born and bred, Ben moved to the UK originally to study. He immersed himself in the highly influential east London party scene, having made the decision to dedicate his life to pursuing a career in music. While Ben was living in the UK, Berlin had become the global epicentre of house and techno and he felt a strong calling to return home. He decided to move back home to build a studio and returned to Berlin with a fresh outlook, a renewed desire to succeed to truly pursue his dreams.

In 2016 Ben took charge of his own destiny, setting his focus on his self-release imprint Inkal and sister label Meta.

Both labels quickly grew in stature with every release, topping record shop charts, finding their way into a plethora of tastemaker’s boxes, and resulting in multiple represses for each offering. Now Ben has made both labels’ catalogues available digitally which resulted in him having 8 tracks charting on Beatport simultaneously.

Ben continues to build his reputation in the studio as a producer to watch out for with a recent EP in Inkal hitting the top 5 on Beatport, and the physical release hitting number 1 in the vinyl chart.

And things are really heating up for Ben following the success of his “The Player” EP on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound label which not only hit the number 1 spot in the Tech House chart on Beatport and number 2 overall, but was heavily supported at radio.

He is equally at home as a DJ in the clubs, and on festival stages. The past 12 months has seen him play Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Pitch Festival in Australia, 121 Festival in New Zealand, BPM Festival in Costa Rica, Free Your Mind in The Netherlands, and Konnect Festival in Ireland. He has also garnered club bookings at the likes of Amnesia in Ibiza, Rex Club in Paris, Tobacco Dock and Studio 338 in London, La Feria in Santiago, Lost Beach Club in Ecuador, S.A.S.H. in Sydney, Dok in Amsterdam and many more.

With such a strong foundation, an unerring passion for his craft, Ben continues to attract the attention of tastemakers and clubbers alike and is now firmly established on the Global stage.
