In only four years The Hydra have cemented themselves as one of London’s most potent club brands.
Founded by Electric Minds label boss and off-location event pioneer Dolan Bergin and programmer Ajay Jayaram (previously booker for The End and Cable) – they were soon joined by operations manager Alex Beattie to form a collective who’ve grown to be synonymous with the global electronic music scene.
Their early ascent saw their reputation spread with their ability to locate and transform obscure settings into fully functioning event spaces. Catholic churches, dilapidated warehouses, loft spaces, theatres, pool halls, a former department store, a capsule on the London Eye and a decommissioned WWII naval frigate have all played a part in The Hydra’s formative years – each party capturing a nomadic spirit of adventure severely lacking across the capital.
In their tenure they’ve hosted to industry heavyweights such as Ostgut Ton, Innervisions, Blueprint, Ninja Tune, Bugged Out and Dekmantel; luring in artists and clubbers alike.
Recent years have seen them curate festival stages at the likes of Dimensions, Lovebox, Bloc and most recently new London festival Junction 2 along with LWE.
In the summer of 2015 they produced the first UK leg of Innervisions’ highly lauded Lost In A Moment party – taking over the breath-taking Osea Island.
Now looking onto their fifth series this 2016, The Hydra will continue to do what they’ve become known and relied upon for: bringing the very best of underground music to the UK and beyond.
