….At Coachella 2014, I decided to forgo seeing Outkast and headed to the Yuma tent to see Dixon work his magic. Little did I know, I was about to experience something special. So, when Dixon chose a particularly deep cut, the song struck a very deep chord. The room seemed to light up and I knew I was exactly where I should be. To be honest, I can't really describe it in any way other than that is a moment I will never forget. This was my introduction to Sailor & I, with Ame’s remix of his song “Turn Around”….
Sailor & I, real name Alexander Sjödin, is a Swedish musician with a unique voice and the awe inspiring talent to make some of the most emotive music I have heard in years. He is the type of musician who prefers making his music with actual instruments to using plugin instruments. He began singing not out of a desire to be a singer, but he wasn't hearing the emotion or stories out of the singers he sought to collaborate with, so he took it on himself to sing. Sailor & I is an artist who has to express himself and the end result is that the world sounds that much better.

"In a lot of ways I escape in music," explains Sjodin. "It's a world where I feel home, where life is quite easy, where I can explore sides of me I didn't knew existed."
The singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist has gone from hiding beneath his family's piano to picking up a guitar and tackling elements of jazz, rock, classical and punk with a tightknit circle of Stockholmers. - "We used to change instruments all the time," says Sjodin, "which was a great way to learn how the different roles in a band worked. It helped me see the big picture—how the different layers in a song work together instead of focusing blindly on just one."
That explains why he breaks up extended bouts of songwriting with binge-worthy movie blocks. In a lot of ways, that's what Sailor & I is alluding to in the months ahead—an album filled to the brim with restless productions, richly woven storylines, and no signs of slowing down.
"I'm a bit terrified by the force of music," explains Sjodin, "and what it turns me into in the long run. Will it slow down eventually or will it go the other direction and make me insane? I have no idea, but I feel that it’s very important to keep exploring what is behind those invisible doors."
With releases on Life and Death and Black Butter Records, as well as being remixed by Âme, Kidnap Kid and Joris Voorn, Sailer & I has emerged as one of the most promising new artists in recent years; not only as an artist in his own right but also as a much sought after collaborator. Sailor & I has worked with the likes of Tale of Us, Adriatique, Nic Fanciulli, X-Press 2 and many others… with much of the collaborative output yet to see the light of day in the coming months.
The same goes for his debut album, which can be expected in the Spring of 2017.
