LIONSTORM is the Netherlands’ first explicitly queer music duo consisting of Ski and Stars. They have their own signature aggressive clownesque style and make music based in the horrorcore, reggaeton and industrial metal genres. Their work mostly revolves around queerness, female sexuality and breaking taboos.
Think of them as the lesbian love child of Tommy Cash and Death Grips. Last year they packed out their first tour, finding out just how many super fans they had, proven by the drawer full of underwear that was thrown at them.
Their sexy raw style is unique and reflects in their lyrics, performances, music videos, and merchandise which they all release under the same label. They’ve collaborated with icons such as Quay Dash, MEROL and Grove.
Their shows are just as unpredictable; one moment you’re shaking your ass and the next you’re in the middle of a mosh pit. Forget the norm and get pulled into LIONSTORM’s world. It got them a Japanese and European tour and shows at festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole, Noorderslag and Rolling Loud Netherlands.
The norm will always get questioned by the duo, resulting in bans on YouTube and Instagram but that only makes their fire burn more intense. Their first single ‘No H8ro’ got released in a packed Melkweg where they also exhibited their photography. This single got named queer anthem of 2019 by i-D Magazine and LIONSTORM since got attention from media such as national Dutch television, multiple Dutch newspapers such as het Parool, Trouw and NRC and magazines such as Puna, Vice, Vrij Nederland and Linda Meiden
