From Zimbabwe to Leeds, UK, Junior Simba is emerging as a leading figure in the new wave of house and dance fusionists infiltrating lineups.
Junior Simba is a rising DJ and producer whose sound draws deeply from his rich musical background. His sets bring vibrant, groove-heavy rhythms, with an energy blending influences akin to Overmono and Jayda G. Growing up in Zimbabwe, he was surrounded by Rhumba, Kwaito, and Afrohouse. Upon moving to Leeds in his late teens, his passion for producing and DJing flourished, combining his roots with the UK’s electronic scene to create a distinctive emotional and dynamic dance sound.
Climbing the ranks in the Leeds underground music scene, Junior has garnered strong radio support from Jaguar, Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Sarah Story, Jack Saunders, Jeremiah Asiamah, and Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Ben Malone (Kiss FM), and tastemakers at Rinse FM. His track Precision was named Essential New Tune in February 2022, and The Blessed Madonna recognized him as a “One to Watch” in 2023. He has shared stages with Mall Grab, Hunee, Blessed Madonna, The Chemical Brothers, Hot Since 82, Patrick Topping, Adelphi Music Factory, Chaos In The CBD, Kink, Mella Dee, and more.
Junior Simba stands out for his ability to adapt, effortlessly balancing styles and energies. His artful alchemy of light and dark, human and machine, reflects his mission to break barriers, celebrate his culture, and spotlight Leeds, Black, and African artists in dance music.
