Dutch export Frits Wentink is multi-talented musician, producer, DJ, radio host and label head who has been pushing his own innovative brand of leftfield electronic music across an array of platforms since his first release in 2012.
Where others are content sticking with one sound – Frits embodies the true ‘all rounder’. A classically trained pianist comfortable making genre spanning sounds ranging from jazzy groovers to stripped back techno/electro and dusty hip-hop. This versatility along with an unrivalled work ethic and sense of humour to match has arguably bolstered Frits into the high demand artist he is today.
Reaching a milestone fiftieth vinyl release at the start of 2017, Frits has traversed a variety of imprints under a slew of monikers including Heist Recordings, Wolf Music and Shipwrec, not forgetting his own label Bobby Donny. Being the brains behind the techno outfit and label Will & Ink (an offshoot of Delsin) garnered Wentink yet further recognition; be it through his tracks signature rattling drums and twisted synths, dynamic live sets or superb releases from other artists including Mosca, Asusu, Bambounou and close friend Yaleesa Hall.
Despite all of this, perhaps one of Frits most natural talents is his ability to hold a crowd, and his eclectic DJ skills have earned him respect amongst many of his peers and a monthly show on Red Light Radio. Sharing line-ups alongside Tama Sumo, Detroit Swindle, Jon K and Mall Grab (to name a few) in some of the globes most reputable venues and festivals from Berlin’s ://about blank, Amsterdam’s Claire and San Francisco’s Public Works to Montreal’s MUTEK and the UK’s seminal Freerotation and Gottwood Festivals.
Whether it be at the club, on the radio, at your local record shop or even under a different alias – Frits Wentink will no doubt be continuing making waves across the electronic music scene long into the future.
