In only 4 years on the scene, Coco Cole has collected a few nice bits of recognition. Nominated as Best Resident DJ alongside legends DJ Harvey & Terry Francis, & for Best Radio Show amongst titans Annie Mac & Mistajam in the DJ Mag ‘Best of British Awards’. She has even been kindly turned into a metaphor as a "vital cog in the machinery of UK Dance" by Mixmag.
Her musical knowledge & dexterity has led Martin Solveig for two years now to hand-pick Coco, like a little peach, as resident for his globally touring My House brand, notably playing their sell-out showcase at ADE, their 10,000 capacity stage at Tomorrowland & every week in Pacha, Ibiza. Only few can boast (humbly of course), that they've played the main room of the legendary Ibiza club over 30 times.
Coco obsesses in her approach the My House warm-up; collecting music constantly so she can merge the varied Balearic dancefloor by weaving between classic to contemporary & obscure to familiar forms of house & disco, brewing an anticipant party atmosphere. Her ability to select the perfect track for the moment means she is often asked to perform B2B with Solveig at peak moments of his set. Even though Coco’s impostor syndrome won’t believe it, Martin has declared he “wouldn’t have anyone else to be his resident”.
Coco may be the My House resident but there’s no party she can’t play. So far she’s played for Carl Cox at Space, Maya Jane Coles and Friends, London's well-loved wild night Savage (you must go), UK institutions XOYO, Stealth, MOS & Rainbow Warehouse, festivals Tomorrowland, Secret Garden Party & Bestival & even the main room of Berlin favourite Sisyphos as her techno alias. Unst unst unst unst.
On radio, Coco has been the sole voice of dance music for 4 years on the national station Capital XTRA closing the weekend with her self-produced highly respected taste-making show on Sunday nights. Fighting for musical integrity on commercial radio, Coco organizes exclusive weekly mixtapes from esteemed artists like Dave Clarke, Tensnake & Tiga including foreseeing & supporting emerging talents such as Fatima Yamaha, Avalon Emerson, & HAAi.
Whilst still perfecting her individual sound, Coco has already released on house legend Marshall Jefferson’s label Freakin 303, London’s Faceless Recordings & is currently working to launch her own label & unique family of artists, citing Classic Music Company, Turbo, Dark Entries & Huntley + Palmers as influences.
Coco also throws club nights on the underground London scene. Her "queer sweat-fest reprobate of a party", Spin Cycle, she runs alongside Wax Wings & Anna Wall, at the notorious Dalston Superstore, with the ethos of creating a very silly party that incorporates drag, performance & world class DJing in a space safe for all forms of expression. Coco keeps trying to get photos of this party in action but they always just seem to come out blurry. Soz.
