Binker Golding

Binker Golding

Composer and saxophonist Binker Golding is one of the most exciting musicians at the heart of the UK's jazz revolution and one-half of the multi-award winning duo "Binker & Moses".

With his new album release (Gearbox Records, 2022) titled “Dream Like A Dogwood Wild Boy”, Binker Golding moves towards a new sound that incorporates elements of blues, heartland rock and Americana while remaining firmly rooted in the jazz idiom. The songs explore themes of manhood, father and son relationships, friendship, love and sex, reflection, drinking, escapism, death, masculinity, and resilience. His quintet features some of the UK’s most talented artists – pianist Sarah Tandy, guitarist Billy Adamson, double bass player Daniel Casimir and drummer Sam Jones.

Binker Golding is a London-based saxophonist, composer & conductor. He studied classical saxophone for ten years, eventually becoming involved in jazz in his early teens.

To present, Binker has worked with Wolfgang Mitterer, John Edwards, Evan Parker, Yussef Dayes, Sarathy Korwar, Zara McFarlane, Kano, Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jaxx, Abram Wilson, Jason Yarde, Maisha & a whole host of others.

He co-leads the group “Binker & Moses”, who have released three albums on Gearbox Records, winning a MOBO Award, 2 Jazz FM awards & a Parliamentary Jazz award. In February 2019, Binker released the free jazz album “Ex Nihilo” with pianist Elliot Galvin & went on to release his debut as leader “Abstractions of reality past & incredible feathers” in September of 2019, both to critical acclaim.

He is also one of the heads of faculty at the Tomorrow’s Warriors jazz education programme at South Bank, London.
