“Honesty and introspection are driving the music of rising Norwegian poster SKAAR” The Line of Best Fit

SKAAR (pronounced score) has quickly established herself as one of the most interesting artists within the alt-pop genre. She’s ticking all the boxes: her first five singles have been A-listed at radio; she recorded the theme for the Netflix Original Series ‘Home For Christmas’; and earned early praise from Clash, who hailed the “pop star quality searing through every piece of work she has ever released”.

Growing up surrounded by the stunning scenery of the island of Stord, surrounded by fjords, forests and mountains, Hilde Skaar began writing and playing guitar at a very young age. It was an attitude fuelled by her passion for music, from her early love for Coldplay and Foo Fighters to discovering the empowerment and vulnerability of Banks. Three years after releasing her debut single, she’s now primed for a glowing future.

After a great success with her debut EP; “The Other Side of Waiting” in 2020, she has been nominated twice for the Norwegian Grammy-equivalent; ‘Spellemannsprisen’ in the categories ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ and ‘Pop Artist of the Year’.

“This EP bang of an introductory”, she states. “It represents me as a person and an artist”. It’s impossible to separate those two things.” A quote that fully illustrates SKAAR as an artist. Her music is characterised by her being straight forward and honest about highs and lows in her life, calling things out for what they are, and wearing her heart on her sleeve.
