Chloé ( Lumière Noire)
Chloé is an electronic music artist suspended between genres and aesthetics unable to be categorized. With a style born from a true DJ culture and a strength of building a set with a personal vision, the French DJ and producer has developed a unique ear and sound distinctly her own. It is this sound that has led Chloé to being one of the most sought after artists on the contemporary music scene. To file her under ‘girl dj’ would be to miss the point, or to make one that isn’t necessary. Chloé’s accomplishments speak for themselves.
Beginning in the 1990s in Paris’ club scene Chloé steadily gained a following that today reaches far beyond France. Her extensive discography includes EPs released on Karat, BPitch Control, My Favorite Robot, Throne of Blood... Among her releases are also remixes (Alain Chamfort, Miss Kittin, Troy Pierce...), and 2 albums The Waiting Room & One in Other released in 2007 and 2010 on Kill the Dj records. This last album went on to be nominated for France’s most prestigious music award, Les Victoires de la Musique.
If it were in nightclubs across Europe that Chloé refined her talent as a DJ it was through her live performance that Chloé focused her talent as a musician. Her live audio-visual shows have seen her play in institutional art spaces and music venues throughout Europe.
Collaborating often within the world of cinema, dance and art Chloé has created exclusive sound pieces, like for the Cinemathéque de Paris ("Blackmail" Hitchcock, 1929).
In 2013 Chloé collaborated with contemporary artist Anri Sala on the critically acclaimed project Ravel Ravel Unravel, which was featured at the French pavilion at the Venice Biennale the same year.
Chloé’s eclectic incarnations within music have traversed many worlds but it’s as a DJ that Chloé has kept herself continuously at the forefront of electronic music, playing techno in Europe’s most prominent clubs and music venues.
Chloé’s current residency is at Rex Club in Paris where she curates her party Lumière Noire (name of her new label) with international DJs, while continuing to evolve and expand her body of work and collaborations with others.
